If you entrust your search to us, you will soon realise that we do not always hold the same views as any councellor you may have seen before. I will not ask you to question your reasons for wanting to find your birth family. As a mature person, I respect your need for this knowledge.
Searchline aims to help adoptees find their natural families.
Most cases are brought to a completion within six months, although difficult searches may take up to a year or more. It is impossible to give a date for completion, and no promise can ever be given as to the outcome. Please be assured, however, that we will do everything possible to contact the person for whom you are searching.
Most reunions are happy, but occasionally contact is not welcomed. If this is the case, we will be here to help you though this delicate time, and to offer on-going support. we are here to listen at all times. Our office is completely private and we are available from 9am to 10pm if you need to contact us urgently. An answer-phone, fax and email are also always available. Please see the contact page for more details.
Throughout the search, we try to keep in touch with you every step of the way. As soon as we have information, it will be passed to you. At any point, you may tell us to stop the search if the information is not what you had hoped for. we will not question your reasons. we only ask that you allow us to conduct the search in our own way.
Sometimes we may need you to obtain information which can only be made available to you, the adoptee. We will, of course, advise you on whom to contact.
Above all, we hope to become your friends. We can then look forward together to a happy conclusion to your search. Searches can be quite emotional, so be prepared for a few laughs and tears along the way. This is quite normal and very healthy. And we always join in.
